Organic Compost & Organic Topsoil Blend
How to best use your RER Supply Organic Compost and Topsoil:
In Gardens and Flower Beds
Apply a 2″ layer of compost or soil over the planting area.
Incorporate compost into plantings and lightly topdress after installation.
Planting Trees and Shrubs
Mix 1 part compost with 3 parts existing soil.
Blend compost or topsoil into the excavated soil, then place into the planting hole.
Backfill the hole with the amended mix.
Lightly topdress as needed to smooth the area.
Lawn Repair
Rake compost or topsoil into bare spots before seeding.
Lightly rake seed into amended soil.
Water consistently to keep seed moist until germination.
Mulch Instalation
For best results, apply up to 3″ of mulch to planting beds.
Remove weeds and edge beds before installation.
Apply a weed pre-emergent (optional) and water in as directed before mulching.
Spread mulch evenly by hand or rake across all beds.
Avoid piling mulch directly against trees and shrubs (a light layer near plant material is fine).
